In September, Hulu went all out and is basically brimming with a playlist that could meet almost every one of your moods. Want a horror flick? Got it. Classics? Sure thing. Biopics, thrillers, rom-coms? You get the idea. Whatever your mood at “play,” there is a “watching.” So, why limit yourself to just one when you can have them all? One by one, let’s unveil the 10 best movies available on Hulu this month.

10. The Monkey (2025)

Creepy toy? Check. Stephen King source material? Double check. This horror-comedy decided to call its director, Oz Perkins, to tell him about it. The story revolves around twins (both played by Theo James) who are hauntings by a mischievous monkey toy that kills and has some unfinished business. Also, if that is not enough, Tatiana Maslany and Elijah Wood are among us, and you’ll get an atmosphere perfect for King fans, a dark, oddly amusing play.

9. Predator: Killer of Killers (2025)

One version of the Predator movie is revamped as a cartoonish, gross, hysterical style of storytelling where a Viking, a Ninja, and a World War II pilot meet the galaxy’s most deadly hunters. Trachtenberg’s directing resulted in an energetic, crude, and trendy film that all die-hard Predator fans would allow as the best, but with enough new elements to attract new fans to the journey.

8. The Abyss (1989)

From the beginning, The Abyss is a clear indication of how much James Cameron loves to challenge his limits. The underwater science fiction rescue goes quite slowly, but it turns into a first-contact story, through the impressive special effects in the restored version available on Hulu. A must-watch if you want your science fiction to be tense and uplifting at the same time.

7. Swiped (2025)

If The Social Network told the story of Facebook, Swiped would be its present-day dating-app counterpart. Lily James stars as Whitney Wolfe Herd, the founder of Bumble, who left Tinder and changed the course of online dating. The film is clever, true to life, and grants a fascinating look at the merciless world of tech startups.

6. The Man in My Basement (2025)

If Willem Dafoe giving you $1,000 daily to rent your basement sounds too wonderful to be real, then hold on to your hat. Based on a novel by Walter Mosley, this understated thriller turns into a psychological war between Dafoe and Corey Hawkins. Scary, moody, and memorable, one of the year’s most intelligent suspense films.

5. John Wick (Franchise)

The action series with Keanu Reeves went on to become as famous for its sequels as for the first one. So well-made is John Wick that nearly every action film tries to copy it after it. Right now, all four John Wick films are available to watch on Hulu with the gun-fu, neon aesthetic, and dizzyingly manufactured mayhem at your disposal. No one can come close to the first one when it comes to imitations.

4. Alien: Romulus (2024)

Alien: Romulus is a frightful return of the Alien series, just a plain, pitiless horror film that releases a scavenging crew into the middle of a xenomorph ordeal. Fede Alvarez keeps it minimal with his back-to-basics, return-to-root style, similar to the protagonist’s dread in the first film. It is an impressive, scary, and very much a qualifier for the franchise.

3. Anora (2024)

Sean Baker’s stubborn but compassionate Anora persuaded the Oscars to make an exception and snagged Best Picture and Best Actress for Mikey Madison. The movie is centered on Ani, a Brighton Beach employee who finds herself wrapped up in the wealth of a Russian oligarch after a lightning wedding. The movie is a little tragic, a little funny, and a little bit daring, that kind of indie that hangs around your thoughts.

2. Clueless (1995)

The character of Cher Horowitz exists in the past only in name. Clueless is still from the past thirty years, and from fashion to one-liners, it is still the teen romance comedy par excellence that has managed to survive all this time. It is a satirical but very lively and colorful teen film, and if it has been quite a while since your last viewing, Hulu would be the one to tell you why it is still worth watching.

1. The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005)

Then and even today, Judd Apatow’s debut comedy is still one of the funniest and most tender ones simultaneously. After twenty years, Steve Carell’s Andy invigorates through the amazing, amusing, and endearing, and the mix of disgusting humor and real heartbreak was the new face of comedy for the following decade. Through some unknown magic, it is still able to captivate the audience as one of the timeless classics.

So this is really the September showcase of Hulu: a bit of the scary, some of the classics, and the Emmy-winning dramas that will soon be on your list of shows to watch. Put it on, take a deep breath, and enjoy your next night off when it’s not your turn to wind down and relax.
